Dr. Jones
04.05.2023
My dog died tragically a few years ago. He would have been 12 today. I wrote this in honor of him.
There was a dog
Named Dr. Jones
He never cared
About no bones
He loved his momma
Through and through
He protected her
As a son should do
He never cried
About no pain
He served his pack
That was his aim
I miss him still
Most every day
I pray we meet
again some day
My only son
My baby boy
Who brought me so much
Strength and joy
I slept so sound
I slept so deep
Knowing safely
He would keep
His family and
The dogs we had
Only rarely
Did he get mad
There’s many dogs
I’ve met in time
But like the stars
Some do outshine
And when I go
To bed at night
I pray in dreams
I’ll hold you tight
Down in the yard
I walked today
I got down low
By his grave to say
"You were the best
My baby boy
You taught me things
I still employ"
I cried some tears
He said to me
“til Valhalla
I’ll wait for thee"
Happy would-be 12th birthday Dr. Jones
